Downtown’s Sweetheart – Va$htie…

Hypebeast has featured an interview with my homegirl Vashtie Kola. Now if any of you don’t know who she is, she’s definitely one to read up on!

She’s one of the first ladies I met out here in NY and I can honestly say that I looked to her, and a handful of other women, to fuel my hunger to make something of myself in this industry and city while still demanding respect as a lady.

The interview gives you insight of who she is, where she came from, and what she does now… to me, she’s the epitome of that bad ass chick running shit correct’! =)

Charcoal Sheen

Not yet ready to retire your black nails? How about trying matte black?

Also available in powder & calamine

Is Duff Enough?

Hilary Duff is the latest celeb to collaborate with DKNY. Looks good now, but I was highly disappointed in the Rachel Bilson X DKNY collabo.  Well have to wait and see.

Grammys 2009

The Grammys is practically a day old so here’s my quick rundown. My list of fashion winners is quite short because well the Grammys was so boring and blah and so un-Rockerish for this awards show. The Grammy’s is the time for everyone to have fun, take risks, and just be more adventurous. We need Lil Kim and J-Lo back.

Anyways here they are:

Katy Perry
Not really sure why she is posing like this, but I like this color against her skin, and it’s a fun haute couture dress in bubble gum pink. BTW what did you think of her performance. It bugged me that she didn’t move her arms, she was jumping all over the stage but her arms were glued to the side of her body.

Kim Kardashian
I actually didn’t notice her through the entire show (I did fall asleep at one point) but I saw this pic, and just love it, because it’s something I’d wear :-)
Jennifer Hudson
I LOVE HER. She made me cry when she received her Grammy and when she performed. God Bless Her.

These were the only ones that stood out to me because they fit their bodies well and the embellishment and architectural details are fun and interesting.

As for the Grammys 2009, highlights, for me include:
Chris and Rihanna>> What’s going on!!!??? I have a major crush on Chris…well used to. :-/
Miley & Taylor>> I really liked their performance of Taylor Swift’s song “Fifteen”. I know i’m too old to like these Disney show kids but i can’t help it. I like Hannah Montana, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, HSM, Camp Rock….I need to borrow a child or have one so I can pretend that it’s for them and not for my pure enjoyment.
Finally, my fave performance of the night…M.I.A. holding her own with the boys, 9 months preggo and all!!

MIA in Henry Holland looking like a cute lil lady bug!

wejetset City Notes

Last month I mentioned that wejetset had “set” out to create a new section called CITY NOTES. They recently posted Claudia’s (Claw Money) interview:

City Notes is born from a conversation. Part interview and part travel guide, City Notes takes its readers on a humble tour of a metropolis through the eyes of a creative professional. It’s an idiosyncratic close reading, an interview with a place via the loyalty and loves of some of its most prestigious ambassadors. In this edition wejetset follows Claudia Gold on a tour of her city, where she highlights her favorite places to eat, stay, see, relax & live. Click Read More to request your free copy of city notes, view additional photos and watch the trailer.

We Be CLUBBIN!

These are kinda like my real first pair of “female empowerment” shoes! HAHAHA – talk about FIERCE! Since you’ll usually find me wearing either combat boots, sneakers, vans, or uhm yea… Extremely RARE to find me in heels, but I’m hoping to change that!

When I stumbled upon these babies at Steve Madden, I really couldn’t resist! Flashes of outfits blurred through my mind and I KNEW I needed to buy! AHAHHAHAAH! These are called “Clubbing” – go figure!

BAM!

I’ll post up an outfit when I decide to wear them =)

Strange/Beautiful

Each edited set of polishes is only available for a limited time, so you can always be sure you are ahead of the game when it comes to your tips. But it’ll cost you, $79 that is, to let you change your nail color like you change your mind about everything like every good woman should. And it comes in it’s own pretty little case.

STRANGEBEAUTIFUL library of color stunningly provocative but wearable colors blend the best elements of beauty, science, and design. Every polish has been developed and evaluated with an artist’s eye producing hues that are deeply and richly saturated throughout.

A well edited and richly perverse library of colors we have drawn inspiration ranging from Ettore Sottass‘s red valentine typewriter to Josef Albers color theory. Vibrant, eccentric and ornamental our intent has been to develop a new creative approach to nail color and position ourselves more as an accessory for your hand approach to nail color rather than just a nail color line.

Our elegant, efficient packaging has been designed with you in mind. The elongated rectangle fits comfortably in the palm of your hand; two steel ball bearings ensure that the nail polish is always consistently creamy, and the 220 strand brush guarantees an effortless, even application every time.

STRANGEBEAUTIFUL library of color is a 3 FREE product free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, and DBP (dibutyl phthalate)
